If you're on maternity leave and looking for activities for babies in Canberra, then Dendy's Reel Bubs has you covered!
Reel Bubs at Dendy Canberra Centre plays baby-friendly screenings of movies. It's a great chance to get out of the house if you’ve got little ones (especially those mammas who are on maternity leave and are looking for activities for babies in Canberra). There is a great range of movies to choose from, and they’re played in a kid-friendly environment with dimmed lighting and low sound levels. There’s no need to be worried about your kids making noise or moving about - anything goes when you bring kids to the movies!
What is Reel Bubs?
Reel Bubs at Dendy Canberra Centre are baby friendly screenings of movies that occur once a week on Thursdays at 10:30am. Sessions are suitable for infants through to five year olds, and are designed to make the cinema experience accessible for parents, children and carers.
How do I find Reel Bubs?
Dendy is inside the Canberra Centre. There are two entrances to Dendy - one inside the mall, which has access via escalators (not pram friendly). The other is an external entry that can be accessed via the Big W/Dendy carpark (for car access, enter the car park via Scotts Crossing). There are also lifts inside the mall that provide access to the external entry.
What will I find there?
When you make a Reel Bubs booking, you have the choice between a standard session (in a regular cinema) or a session in the premium lounge for a discounted price.
Inside the standard session, there is dimmed lighting (so you can still see inside the cinema throughout the session), and reduced sound levels.
The premium lounge has an exclusive lounge bar that you can relax in before the movie. While you relax and peruse the exclusive premium lounge menu, you can decide which items you’d like delivered to your seat at the beginning, middle or towards the end of the film.
Inside the premium cinema, you’ll also find dimmed lighting and reduced sound levels. There are large recliner chairs and a small table between each two seats with a small touch lamp. This comes in super helpful when you’re trying to feed bub or need to see what your little one is doing!
Due to the larger amount of space available in the premium lounge, it’s much easier to chase after a crawling baby or wrangle your toddler. In fact, many parents end up sitting on the floor while their little ones move about the space. Because the sessions are tailored specifically for small children, there is no judgement when a baby cries or a toddler talks. It is a really comfortable place for parents to relax with their little ones, without the fear of being chastised for their kids being kids.
Dendy also offers great membership benefits. If you’re able to attend the Reel Bubs sessions regularly, it’s certainly worthwhile signing up as a member and getting all of the perks (like $1 tickets!) that you can.
Something to remember - if you want your little one to have their own seat, you need to book them a separate ticket. If you’re happy to hold them on your lap, then you only need the one ticket.
