Pram Friendly Walk in Canberra - The Kingston Foreshore

In this series, we're exploring Canberra's most pram friendly walks. The popular Kingston Foreshore offers more than just trendy restaurants and bars (although they certainly are an added bonus!). There's also a gorgeous walk around the water's edge that will help you take in the sights and sounds of Kingston in a different way.

What is the Kingston Foreshore?

Canberra’s unique waterfront precinct, Kingston Foreshore, is a hive of activity with bars and restaurants galore. The area contains numerous trails for walks and activities, with open spaces providing a place to run around, play, and have some fun. The seamless integration of nature and infrastructure provides the perfect place to go for a scenic, pram friendly walk in Canberra.

Where to go for a pram friendly walk in the Kingston Foreshore area

For a nice uninterrupted walk around the Kingston side of Lake Burley Griffin, it's best to park in the free public car park off Bowen Drive. There are toilets here, as well as the 'On the Lake' cafe, so you can start your walk with a coffee, or grab one on the way back for the car ride home. Once you're on the path near the water, you simply follow it past Bowen Park and towards the Kingston Foreshore.

What will I find on this pram friendly walk in Canberra?

The walk along Lake Burley Griffin next to Bowen Park is scenic, relaxed, and has plenty of trees and open spaces, so you can stop and let your kids have a play/run around. As you get closer to the Foreshore, you'll find the Jack Ross Park, which is more of a quiet garden, with spots to sit and rest. Continuing along the Foreshore walkway, you'll find plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars on one side, and the gorgeous waterway on the other side. As you near the end of the walkway at the Foreshore, cross the bridge over to Honeysett View, and follow the path along the water. There are some really cute spots along the Jerrabomberra Creek here, and there's a few spots to sit and rest. Depending on how long you want your walk to be, you can turn back at this point and go back over the bridge to the Foreshore and follow your original path back. If you want a longer walk, you can easily follow many of the roads leading to Wentworth Avenue, and you can even stop off at Good Neighbour for a coffee before you head back towards the Bowen Drive carpark.
