Canberra’s newest playground, Denman Village Park in Denman Prospect, is an incredible addition to the long list of awesome playgrounds across the city. This astronomy-themed playground is a whole lot of fun for kids of all ages, and can channel the inner space nerd in the best of us!

Canberra Playground: Denman Village Park

What will I find at Denman Village Park?

This brand new astronomy-themed playground is very cool. Set on the side of a hill, Denman Village Park includes a large astronomy tower/play space that houses a giant slide, foot bells, and rock climbing steps, and connects a large elevated boardwalk to the playground below.

The playground is centred around a huge climbing frame, with sections for children of all abilities and ages. The space theme runs throughout the park, with a set of giant colourful swinging planets that can be climbed/swung on. There is also a large, open, elevated sandpit (sidenote: the sand is super soft & clean, which is lovely!), inbuilt trampoline, a swing set, and a very popular water play area. In Canberra’s dry summer heat, this playground is going to be a very popular place, as the water play is spread out over a large area, and includes spouts and sculptures that spray out a lot of water.

For a small playground, the Denman Village Park is surprisingly spacious, and the size of each of the stations (climbing frame, sandpit, etc) means it’s not too crowded (even during these busy weekends after the park has just opened).

The Park is also well-equipped with shaded benches, two BBQs and toilets with baby change areas. All in all, the Denman Village Park is a really lovely new playground in Canberra that kids will have a lot of fun at. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the second stage of this playground build, which will include courts and other physical activity areas.

Is there shelter/shade at Denman Village Park?

The astronomy tower is shaded, as well as some parts of the lower playground. There are also covered benches in the BBQ/toilet area.

Are there toilets?

Yes, there’s two toilets, plus baby change facilities.

Is there a cafe/coffee?

The Denman shops are a 1 minute walk away from the Park (directly across the road), where you can purchase coffee & food.

How do you find Denman Village Park?

The Park is located on Felstead Avenue, across from the Denman Prospect shops.

Overall...

The Denman Village Park is a really fun addition to the growing number of playgrounds in Canberra. Whether you’ve got a space obsessed kiddo or a little one who loves to run, jump and climb, there’s something to keep them entertained for a few good hours at the Denman Village Park.
